[mythtv-users] ringbuf playback

I know this is a strange request, but is there a way to play/re-encode
the ringbuf1.nuv file? I have patched mplayer and it can play the recordings
fine, But I would like to be able to extract parts of live tv I have wathed.
Is there a procedure for doing this, or am I SOL?
