OK, if people will weigh in with a consensus I'll update the HOWTO.

Q1:  Is the 3DNow in some older AMD processors sufficient for
deinterlace support?  (I thought yes after doing some research after
this was brought up by someone with an older AMD processor)

If Q1 is "yes", then:

Q2:  Is the 3DNow in the Via C3 sufficient for deinterlace support?

If Q1 is "no", then:

Q3:  Is 3DNow+ required to get full deinterlace support?
