I fixed, it I found the PID of the earlier version of mythbackend and
killed it

This problem is unlikely be a router problem, since it reports the 
inability of mythbackend to bind to port 6543 on the host it is running
on. 
External routers don't have much of an effect in intra-host
communications.

Assuming the system has TCP/IP networking running properly, this most 
likely means that something else is already listening on port 6543. To 
check ...  "netstat -lp" will list the ports in use and what is using
them. 
So you can see if 6543 is already used and if so, by what program.

The most likely suspect is another instance of mythbackend ... perhaps
thet 
one that you "were running fine" ... but you haven't said much about
your 
system , so that comes only as a guess.
