[mythtv-users] Stuck at base 1

Ok,

I have a real fundamental problem, basically my TV card isn't working in
Linux so I can't get started on mythtv. I've done all I know and now I need
any clue I can to help get this working . . . .

Details follow - thanks in advance for anyone that can point me to something
to try next

SYMPTOMS

scantv gives No channel found for all the channels. Xawtv just shows snow
for everything.

MY CONFIGURATION

Mandrake system kernel is linux-2.4.19-24mdk This is the latest as of today.

NVIDIA GEForce 4 card Nvidia drivers installed and working:
	NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4191.i386.rpm
	NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4191.mdk90up.i586.rpm

TV card is an old Hauppage WinTV card

STEPS TAKEN SO FAR

1)	Upgrade drivers / kernel etc
2)	double check the tv cable - it works on my TV so there is a real signal
3)	install the TV card in a windows machine - it works perfectly
4)	install TV card into an alternative PCI slot in the linux box
