Has anybody tried running MythTV on an openMosix cluster? Their FAQ states that (at least playback-) filters migrate easely. As far as I can see you might want to setup your backend so it won't accept incomming processes when recording so you wont starve the record thread when when another PC starts some CPU instensice programs.
