I've been using the dumb IR receiver that came with my Pinnacle PCTV
Pro card for a while. The remote is ok; plenty of buttons that I've
mapped to the various Myth functions.

Problem is that the receiver / lirc doesn't appear to be very
discriminating. I've got a Tivo in the same entertainment center,
and lirc / Pinnacle see the various Tivo button presses as legitimate
_Pinnacle_ presses, which is dangerous because some of them map to
stuff like "d".

I've tried various things, including posting on the lirc list, but no
help so far. I've also tried to deliberately add the Tivo remote to
my lircd.conf and then not map any buttons, but when I run irw and
hit buttons on the Tivo remote irw is still reporting that it's my
Pinnacle that's sending the IR, even though the Pinnacle remote
doesn't have batteries in it.

Can anyone who's built a homebrew IR receiver based on specs from
lirc.org state if they have issues with the above? I'm not going to
be able to get rid of the Tivo quite yet, so not using it isn't an
option.
