[mythtv-users] can't play tv or recorded shows

Before I dig into the source I'll see y'all can tell me if there's
something obvious I'm doing wrong. I'm running mythbackend on a RH9
box with a PVR-250 card, frontend on an xbox running Xebian 0.5.1. I
installed the myth-0.11 deb packages with apt-get, and after a lot of
wrangling with the driver code eventually got the remote working so I
could run myth. When I try to view live TV or any recorded shows, I
get this:

[...]
Input #0, mpeg, from
'rbuf://192.168.0.192:6543/var/cache/mythtv//ringbuf1.nuv':
   Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg2video, 480x480, 29.97 fps, 6000 kb/s
   Stream #0.1: Audio: mp2, 48000 Hz, stereo, 384 kb/s
Opening OSS audio device '/dev/dsp'.

..and then the frontend exits. The backend log says:

2003-11-01 16:31:49 adding: xbox.localdomain.local as a player 1
2003-11-01 16:31:49 adding: xbox.localdomain.local as a player 0

ringbuffer
2003-11-01 16:31:49 Could not open audio device: /dev/dsp

I switched to myth 0.12, but it's the same thing. The weird thing is
the preview in the recorded programs list works fine. And I can copy
the nuv files over and play them with mplayer, too..

Any thoughts?

Many thanks,
-Dave
