[mythtv-users] usability issue: no uniform key bindings for mythtv, mythmusic and mythvideo

Dear all,

using the remote to control mythtv, mythmusic, and mythvideo, I have the 
following problem:

The keys [ ] | for in-/decreasing/muting the volume appearently cannot 
be mapped by lirc to the keyboard if you have a german keyboard layout 
(because on a german keyboard layout you need the alt-gr modifier key to 
access the [ ] | keys, but lirc only supports the ctrl, alt, shift, 
numlock, caps, and meta modifiers).

In the lirc list, they just suggested using other keys instead... Ok, 
this is possible with mythtv:

[	=>	F10
]	=>	F11
|	=>	F9

*BUT* *NOT* with mythmusic.

With mythvideo, this is possible only "partly": the following entries as 
~/.mplayer/input.conf *SHOULD* work

RIGHT seek +10
LEFT seek -10
...
F9 mute
F10 volume -1
F11 volume 1

but they *DONT* -- mplayer only knows the F-keys F1..F10, *NOT* F11, 
F12, ..., so i can only mute and decrease, but not increase the volume


So, has any one a workaround for lirc to access the alt-gr modifier on 
german keyboards?

Or, is there another solution? If not, could the developers of mythtv 
and the plugins find some "normal" keys (e.g. +- or */) for volume 
control and implement them in ALL the plugins please? (is there a 
special place to post this kind of usability request?)
