this is why I stuck with OSS using my SBLive on RH9
the ALSA options are really confusing.  if you change the alsa settings way
to the right side of the alsa mixer options, just tweaking these a little
will screw up the balance and do other weird things.  To fix my playing
around during my pre-OSS hassle I ended up zeroing everything and setting it
up from scratch.
also, you should have a settings saver and reload script somewhere so you
shouldn't have to add that script below.
