I have no idea if this would help you or not, but I find that if MythTV
locks up on me, which only happens occasionally, I will get a black screen
when choosing Watch TV that I can only get out of by using ctrl-alt-esc.
After doing that, I need to run mythtvsetup and go to the fourth option and
change the default channel under video0 to 2.  The channel will be whatever
channel it was tuned to when the system locked up, but to get my mythtv
system to work again, I have to change it to 2.  I don't know why this
works, but it does.  I usually do this after a reboot.

If I am giving out bad advice, feel free to flame the "F" out of me.
