Could you let me know what changes you make to mplayer, and how? How good does 
the corrected output look?

For MythTV, you might try using the CVS build, and pressing "F" while watching 
playback. It cycles through the setting of hue, color and brightness. I get 
reasonable results, but need different settings on different televisions.
