If dct-channel is specifically for that cable box then I don't need it.  I solved my DCT problem by returning the box to Adelphia :)
 
I am working on a program for the RCA satellite box.  Will post it soon.

To use IR, use LIRC. To use the serial port, use dct-channel in the
MythTV contrib directory. The CVS version is pretty good at making
sure the channel changes properly.
