[mythtv-users] Advice Needed for Gentoo

Hi,

I've got a Gentoo box running with bttv (Avermedia tv studio) and it
works fine (mostly). I used gaming-sources, I figured it couldn't hurt
video playback and it is a dedicated myth box. It's been a while since I
did the install, but I don't remember any major problems. If you try the
gaming-sources and still have problems I'll try to help if I can.

Subject: [mythtv-users] Advice Needed for Gentoo

?

All,

Given Redhat's announcement of killing off its personal line, I have
decided to look for a nother distro. Since my current project in
MythTV, I have decided to build Myth on Gentoo. While I like that
Gentoo doesn't have much extra in it other than what you explicitly
install, I am having problems with bttv.

According to multiple references on the web, the kernel modules for bttv
should be in the gentoo-sources kernel. V4L does not contain a bttv
option. When I download 0.9.1.1 from bytesex.org and compile it, I
received unresolved symbol errors.

I would appreciate hearing from any of you that have Myth running on
Gentoo especially if you are using the bttv module. What source are you
using. Have you done anything odd to get myth to work?

TIA,

William
