idea to copy his precious recorded programs (World Cup Rugby) to another
PC while he reinstalled his Myth box. Then copied them back. I was
thinking it would be easy, but no! After copying back into
/var/lib/mythtv they do not show as watchable shows in the TV section of
Mythtv. How would I get Mythtv to see those recorded programs for me to
be able to watch? Do I have the right folder? I thought that was where I
copied them from in the first place.

I believe you would need to restore the matching records in the database
as well, not just return the files to their original location. It's the
database contents that you are viewing in the frontend, and if you wiped
the database then those contents are gone unless you restore them.
