The command looks ok.
"/usr/local/bin/xmame.x11 -rompath /mnt/nfs/games/roms/ -cheat_file
/usr/local/share/xmame/cheats -history_file /usr/local/share/xmame/
-snapshot_directory /usr/local/share/xmame/screens -skip_disclaimer
-noskip_gameinfo -nocursor -x11-mode 1 -noscanlines -noartwork
-noautoframeskip -scale 1 -noantialias -notranslucency -noanalogstick
-nomouse -nowinkeys -nograbmouse -joytype 4 -sound -samples -volume -16
-nocheat -verifyroms 2>/dev/null"
I get no info in the database. I have tried dropping and re-adding the
tables, with no luck.

Does the scan for roms command run extremely quickly by any chance?
There were a couple of "bugs" where the scan command would cause a segfault
in xmame if your params weren't exactly right. I think the issues revolved
around whether to set a directory or exact file for some of the things like
catalogue locatations, high score locations, etc
- First check your DB to see if it lists any roms
- Next: Scan through the code and look for where it generates the command
line to scan for new roms and add a "cout << scan_command;" type line so
that you can see exactly what it is running. Then run this command line
manually.
This will probably provide a lot more information.
I had this problem, but I can't remember exactly what I had to do to fix it
now. My current problem is making screen shots appear, but haven't bothered
debugging this...
