So there is some kind of xv like support in the ivtv-fb?

I figured that out, so it switched to and fro between decoding to

So sound from MythTV will go through the PVR? Sound from X goes to the
soundcard? That would be fine my DD-Amp can switch to analogue
automagically if there's no signal on digital, so connecting the spdif
from the soundcard and analogue from the pVR should work.

What I found in the docs is how to setup the encoder, I'll try Jarod's
link.
