[mythtv-users] Switch to ALSA from OSS sound problem

Well, you could have simply adjusted the volume using OSS...

*shrug* indeed... That's a new one to me.

Quite baffling. I'm turning it over in my head, but not coming up with 
a logical explanation. Try starting up playback of a recording from 
within MythTV (one that works as expected w/mplayer), and launch 
alsamixer or gnome-alsamixer while it is playing, and see if one of the 
sliders has dropped way down for some reason (move some around while 
the video is playing, see if it has any effect). If so, you have a 
volume setting in MythTV that is off kilter, I think. How that would 
have happened, I dunno, but that's about all I can think of at the 
moment...
