[mythtv-users] Re: Action for shutdown option in menu?

Thanks for the quick responses. Let me be a little more clear. I'm a tivo fan and I like the way they have the standby (essentially shutdown) on the main menu at the bottom. I want it to be simple for even my wife or a novice user to figure out so that they don't just hit the power button on my box. I don't understand why this isn't a default. Hitting ALT-ESC or ESC isn't intuitive. I consider myself to be reasonable technical and it took me several times of playing with mythtv before I realized I had to configure the button that I wanted to use to quit. I had just killed the process because I was tired of looking for the shutdown option. Of course, the appropriate key combination is configurable in the general setup. I finally saw it.

I want to bring up the mythtv built-in dialog (Do you really want to exit mythtv? "No", "Yes, Exit Now", "Yes, Exit and shutdown the computer") when I select a menu option at the bottom of my main menu that I'm going to call "Shutdown".

I know how to add the entry to the mainmenu.xml file to get the "Shutdown" option to show up, but I don't know what action (in the xml file an action is required when you add an entry that specifies what to do when clicked) I need to enter.

Does anybody know what action to enter in the mainmenu.xml file entry? I know I can use linux commands to shutdown the box, but I want the built in dialog.

Thanks again for the help,
