The command:

rm /dev/lirc
mknod /dev/lirc c 61 0

will create a link to device 61,0. I haven't been following your situation
but this will work only if you have a serial receiver, and your serial port
is located at 61,0

Subject: [mythtv-users] Symlink question

Now remember, I'm learning, be gentle.. :)

I've found some old posts that refer to the problem that I am seeing. They
mention that their lirc symlink was bad.

"I discovered mine was a symlink to serial port instead of a character
device 61,0"
-Max

I know how to create a symlink to another folder, but how do I create one
to a character device? Or how to I check to see if it is already?

I did:
c--------- 1 root root 61, 0 Sep 9 10:44 /dev/lirc
srw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 Sep 18 11:02 /dev/lircd

Doesn't the 'c' mean its a character device symlink? I notice I don't have
lircm, should I?

Thanks for the help all.. can't wait to finally get this up and running..

-Shay
