the question is, "what is depending?"...  I mean, obviously I wouldn't
be changing any of the recording/scheduling code that's already in place
(so-called "basic" operations).  But what about cool features not
related to those basic opersations?

Anyway, just tossing ideas around.  My brain is a bit taxed at the
moment and I can't bring to mind any of the cool ideas that made me want
to start this thread.  Maybe I'll come up with some later.
