Let me throw my 3 1/2 cents into this thread. I was also looking
for small and cheap, but I also wanted something that looked
nice.
I picked up one of these:
http://www.directron.com/cstr100.html

It's a little more than some of the suggestions, but I like the
way it looks better, and it supports full height cards. It's got
a nice internal design, but definately has a cheap feel to it.
It
has 3 built in case fans (besides the PSU) which I don't run so
far. The PSU fan & the CPU cooler seem to do OK.

For my mobo I'm using an ASUS A7N8X-VM. There's a $11 dongle for
tv & s-vid out available at NewEgg:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-131-211&depa=0

If price is a high concern you might go for the A7N266-VM it's
about $20 cheaper and can use the same dongle, but it's nforce 1
instead of nforce2 & has usb1.1 instead of usb2.

Also a word of advice about all nforce mobos AFAIK: It can
tricky
getting linux to talk to the onboard network adapter. You need
to get the NVIDIA proprietary driver or rebuild a kernel with
the open forcedeth driver. It's hard to get all this stuff on
the system without a network adapter. Chicken and egg problem.
KnoppMyth does support it right out of the box though.

Just looked over the page for that case, but couldnt tell... do
"normal"
sized PCI cards fit in there? I have no problem buying an
ultra-tiny
motherboard... hey, theres a thought... anyone here come across
a
microatx
(or smaller?) motherboard that has a svideo out built in? My
concern with a
small case is fitting PCI cards in there so I can have my svideo
out.
