[mythtv-users] Cable Boxes, 1394 and other miscellany

Hi, first email to the group.  I am in the process of speccing out and
buying my backend box (will also serve frontend for local tv at first).  I
had a Motorola 6200 installed over the weekend and was interested in any
recent progress that has been made in capturing audio/video via 1394.  I
have read most of the posts on AVS as well as in the archives here.  I know
5c isn't going to happen but at least it's a "free" tuner for free-to-air
programming.

I really haven't gotten into the nuts and bolts of mythtv configuration but
I'm assuming there is no current support for using 1394 as an input with the
combination of an external IR controller for the box.  Does anyone have a
guide on how to best control a cable box, especially the 6200.  Obviously
there are issues as to whether it is powered on or not, etc... Does anyone
have discrete codes?  Thanks in advance.  Once I have this all working, I
will be pushing hard to get the 1394 issue going, that is the current "Holy
Grail" for me... getting HD without having to mess with rooftop antennae and
expensive tuner cards...
