[mythtv-users] Lirc Support

I'm still stumped with this one. I really cannot get my Hauppage remote 
to work in Mythtv

Myth's log gives me the following:

mythtv: could not connect to socket
mythtv: No such file or directory
lirc_init failed for mythtv, see preceding messages

If I do a ls -l /dev/lirc* I get

crwxrwxrwx    1 root     root      61,   0 Apr 19 10:32 /dev/lirc
srwxrwxrwx    1 root     root            0 Apr 20 14:35 /dev/lircd=

If I run lircd I get

lircd 0.7.0pre2: there seems to already be a lircd process with pid 2683
lircd 0.7.0pre2: otherwise delete stale lockfile /var/run/lircd.pid

this tells me that lirc is definitely running.

An strace on mythfrontend shows me that the file it **might** be trying 
to access is: /var/run/.nscd_socket ??

**irw shows me my key presses in the terminal. I have also made sure 
that the lircrc file has been copied over to ~/.mythtv/lircrc .

Any ideas anyone ?
