I don't know why but I had a similar problem on my Compaq Evo desktop, so I
disabled the audio and dropped in a SB Live! 5.1 card. It worked flawlessly
from the first boot... :S Not the best answer but thought I'd mention
it...

Subject: [mythtv-users] Sound Issues

Hi all. I am having issues getting sound from the pvr-250. I have an
onboard i810, and set up the alsa drivers for it via the mythtv.org
docs. The "capture" boxed is checked in alsamixer. I cannot hear sound
from "Live TV", nor can I get sound if I "cat /dev/video >
/video/test.mpeg" and play it in mplayer. The alsa driver appears to
be loaded, as "aplay /usr/share/sounds/*.wav" will play the named wav
file.

Here is a cut-n-paste from a terminal screen when running myth:

I have read posts from the archive for a few hours, and haven't found
anything that I haven't already tried. Can someone point me in the
right direction?
