I use SUSE 9.1 (2.6 kernel), partly because it's what I know and like and
partly because setting up lvm/raid I found to be very easy. 
I have 1x 40gb hd with the system etc on it and 2x 160gb hd's with about
57gb setup as raid1 (holds my mp3's) and the rest setup as raid0 (mythtv
recordings).
