[mythtv-users] Stutter issues with HDTV

Well - good news (sorta). After applying all the suggestions in this thread:

1) re-niced X above that of frontend
2) change march in config.mak video lib build

I was able to jussssst get it to not stutter on HDTV 1080i content. CPU's (HT P4 2.6G) are at high 90's% and cranking away.

But - the big winner was the change of the AGP setting in the XF86Config file. I had it set to use the nVidia AGP and it was only until I changed it to use option "2" (which I believe was the kernel AGP support - I don't have the README in front of me right now) that I saw the majority of the stutter go away.

Tweaking 1 and 2 above helped get the rest away.

So - one last question about de-interlace options (now that I can do this since I'm not using XvMC) :)

I've read that the "Bob" de-interlace filter is one of the better filters... but when I enable that filter I see interlace issues. When I enable the other filters (linear or kernel) it smooths out.

Why would "Bob" be doing this?

Thanks - the AGP help was what put it over the top.

A P4 2.6G can -just- do HDTV (without XvMC) if you tweak the crap out of it.

-John
