I did write a patch that fixes this see the message here:

But as Isaac said that dialog is probably going to be removed soon anyway.
If you are using the CVS you can apply the patch yourself it works fine
here.

There is a setting on second page of General TV Settings "Always use
Advanced Recording
Options screen" which if set always shows the Advanced screen. Although I
must say I
prefer the simplicity of the simple recordings screen!
