Hi,

I've asked this question a couple of weeks ago and was advised to
upgrade to newer versions of via xvmc lib and DRM.
I did upgrade to the latest CVS versions marked as stable on Terry's
site and included his no-scale patch for the via driver. All seemed well
but I still have a stability issue on my diskless frontend.
My backend has 2 PVR-250 cards.
I a leave the frontend on live-TV for a while it get in a state where I
only get a frame every few seconds.

This is in my frontend log :
2004-12-22 21:05:51.137 Using protocol version 14
2004-12-22 21:05:53.806 Initializing audio parms from stream #0.
2004-12-22 21:05:53.965 Opening audio device '/dev/dsp'.
2004-12-22 21:05:53.965 Opening OSS audio device '/dev/dsp'.
Using XvMC version: 1.0
XvMC found and using VLD surface
2004-12-22 21:05:53.992 Using XV port 56
2004-12-22 21:05:56.270 Using realtime priority.
2004-12-22 21:05:56.290 Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV
2004-12-22 21:05:56.319 Video timing method: DRM

SO all is well for a while and then lots of this (BTW a second recording
started on the other PVR250 at 22:25 but ti also happens when only
watching live-tv):

2004-12-22 22:46:33.598 prebuffering pause
2004-12-22 22:46:35.038 prebuffering pause
2004-12-22 22:46:35.439 prebuffering pause
2004-12-22 22:46:36.099 prebuffering pause
2004-12-22 22:46:36.559 prebuffering pause
2004-12-22 22:46:38.701 Timed out waiting for free video buffers.
2004-12-22 22:46:39.718 prebuffering pause
2004-12-22 22:46:41.896 Timed out waiting for free video buffers.
2004-12-22 22:46:42.856 prebuffering pause

and then lots of :
XvMCPutSlice: This context does not own decoder!
XvMCPutSlice: This context does not own decoder!
XvMCPutSlice: This context does not own decoder!

followed by lots of :
XvMCPutSlice: Error: 11
XvMCPutSlice: Error: 11
XvMCPutSlice: Error: 11
XvMCPutSlice: Error: 11
XvMCPutSlice: Error: 11

Restarting mythfrontend doesn't help but restarting X does.

Anyone seen this or ony tips on how to debug this further? I see nothing
wrong on the backend side of things. In need of ugent help, GF is
treatening to make me remove everything from living-room :-)

A side question. Do other people with diskless frontends have the
live-tv buffer mouted over NFS? Will mythtv automaticly use NFS when the
live-tv buffer is available this way?

Steven
