you can run mythtv and nxtvepg at the same time. Just switch vbi use to off in 
mythtv. I want to run "nxtvepg -daemon" in a start up script and have cron do 
"nxtvepg -provider FF -dump xml file.xml && mythfilldatabase ...".

But it needs a way to prevent nxtvepg from switching channels during a mythtv 
recording. Nxtvepg can detect _some_ TV applications like xawtv and 
xawdecode. There is sample code how to do that in the nxtvepg sources. That 
would be a great feature for mythtv.

Maybe we can misuse the various startup/shutdown hooks in mythtv to set 
nxtvepg to passive mode during recording.
