I never could get a sufficiaent number of the buttons working correctly
with the gatos driver - I did like the mouse control tho.
Lirc started with just ir, but now supports both ir or rf remotes
the downside would be controlling other IR devices since this remote
doesn't have an IR led at all. So if you want to control an IR device
you would have to have another remote

it is very responsive and I can use it up to 70' away.
