[mythtv-users] mplayer/mencoder nuv noob questions

Hihi,

My apologies in advance for asking a couple of newbie questions but
I've searched the list archives and the FAQ to no avail.

I'm trying to archive some myth-recorded video.  Its all in mpeg4/mp3
format, software encoded.

With myth 0.9 there were patches to understand the .nuv format with
mplayer, but that doesn't seem to have made it into 1.0pre3.  Is there a
patch for 1.0?

Failing that, I presume I have to use the fifo interface with
mythtranscode.  I'm looking at nuvexport and mythmkmovie and they seem
very keen on transcoding things to new formats (as does mythtranscode to
create the fifos in the first place!).  All I want to do is a lossless copy
of the video and audio streams and have it reindexed as a .avi file.

Is it possible?  Any tips?  I feel like I must be missing something :-)
