It can very well be, but it is lying about it's version. I turned to
the latest CVS, which seems to not have the string change. So
"0.7.0pre1" should probably be 0.7.0pre2_plus_CVS_bits_from a couple
of days back ;)
To the original poster: /dev/lirc is provided by the lirc kmdl
packages. Please install a matching lirc-kmdl package and edit
/etc/init.d/lircd to start lircd with "--driver=default"
(Side note: Pinnacle users should use "--driver=pinsys" instead).
I posted about it on this list, but I had no feedback, whether the new
lirc rpms work generically for more than only Hauppauge.
