I didn't know about "make oldconfig" (been a long time...) so I ended up
doing a "make menuconfig" and then saving it.  I had to manually edit the
makefile because the "custom" keyword was appended to the config which
created errors...

Ran "make dep" and all is good now, DVB compiled fine using the ATrpm
kernel.
