[mythtv-users] ivtv / pvr250 MCE problem...

Spare me the holier than thou attitude. I read what I could and it didn't
help me. The instructions on the site say how to extract from the CDROM and
I did that, to no avail. I asked how I could extract the firmware from the
exe's on that are linked to from Jarod's howto and got no help, so I posted
to this list.

Congrats on being able to search. I found that stuff days ago while trying
to work this out.

If you had the answer, why not contribute to the group right off the bat,
rather than posting worthless crap? You are partially correct - I don't
have a very thorough knowledge of the system I'm setting up. That's why I'm
doing it...to LEARN. I apologize for not just knowing how it all
works...shame on me.

Folks, I tried all the options I could think of before posting. I even
RTFM, but it didn't appear that I was doing it right, so after asking the
ivtv guys for help, I moved on to this list. To those that provided answers
- thank you very much. When I finally get a backend running and figure out
how all this works, I'll most definitely contribute answers to the list,
instead of questions.

J. Donavan Stanley - if you want to discuss more, email me offlist. Quit
polluting this list with worthless answers and a poor attitude.

No Gabe a smart ass reply meant to teach you a lesson would have been
RTFM without bothering to point you to a place that can answer your
question. The installation instructions for ivtv cover how to extract
the firmware for the cards. The reason nobody in IRC discussed it or
probably answered you when you asked about it is because it's like step
one or two when you RTFM.

I simply typed "ivtv firmware download" into my google search box in
Firefox and got this on the FIRST PAGE:

"You should download the Win32 executables/drivers you find on Hauppauge's
site and extract the firmware with the ivtvfwextract.pl script from ivtv
'utils' dir. It will create two binary .bin (firmware) files in your
/lib/modules/ dir. These will be loaded to the PVR 250/350 board whenever
you load the drivers...
Good luck!"

I DID have the answer. As do most of the people on this list. The fact
that you DON'T have the answer demonstrates your basic lack of knowledge
about the system you're setting up. When provided a link to a place
where you could educate yourself and LEARN you instead once again took
the easy way out and demanded an answer here.
