[mythtv-users] Crashes, then fsck..

Possibly a hardware problem. I would guess an IRQ conflict. Most PCI cards
today supposedly support sharing IRQs but I make it a habit to ensure that
high-IO cards are on separate IRQs by switching cards around.

I have this same problem, but I don't watch enough TV to see if it
happens there.  I'm mostly aware of it when ripping DVDs.  Both
operations require significant HD IO, so we may have the same problem.  

I also have the same crash problem after several hours of MP3 playback. 
This doesn't fit so well into the heavy  HD I/O picture, so I'm not sure
what to make of it.

Me too, though I'm on XFS instead of reiser.

I tried similar operations - reformatted my separate storage drive as
ext3 instead of XFS... same problem.  I tried saving ripped video to the
system drive.... same problem.

I'm on FC1 with the atrpms 2.4 kernel, an ATI Tv Wonder VE, and an
Nvidia Geforce MX with the latest vid drivers.  Sounds pretty
similar.... :)

No Nforce board, though.  Mine's Elitegroup.

I've ruled out CPU overheats; my system temperature is fine immediately
after a hang. atrpms is compiled without APIC, and I'll try and make
sure that APM is turned off too... though as I understand it, APM is a
passive operation for the system.  It waits for BIOS calls to sleep etc.

To summarize - 
I think I have the same problem, though mine is manifested in crashed
DVD rips and long-term MP3 plays.  We have the same video card (nvidia),
CPU (Athlon) and capture card (Tv Wonder VE).

None of this gives me any ideas.  Ideas, anyone?
