Just wanted to second this. This has also happened to me many times.

However, problem is, and the reason that I think there is no such menu, is
to enable automatic recording. For example: You were away for 2 hours, but
1.5 hours in to your buffer, there is a recording set to start. Myth forgets
the buffer and goes to record. This little confirmation dialogue you're
talking about (even with a delay) will cause you to lose the whole (or a
part of the) recording.
