[mythtv-users] [slightly OT] anyone got an epia-m9000 with
lm_sensors?

i'm trying to find out how hot the cpu on an EPIA-M9000 gets when being used
100%.
i've modded mine. the cpu fan became very noisy and was about to fail. so i
replaced it with a zalman VGA cooler. you know the big one that clamps both
sizes of the board with a heatpipe between the two. i found a site (don't
know where right now) where someone else showed how to do it. nothing
ventured, nothing gained.
the upshot was that i ran it for a week (24x7) in a box with no fans
whatsoever. worked like a charm (apart from mythtv which is driving me nuts
on this box), with the disk being the only noise from the box. i used a
maxtor 7000.7, so that was about 19dba. unfortunately, the CPU gets rather
hot. the bios says 96C; lm_sensors says something crazy like 130C.
i've now got a sharkoon fan resting on top of the heatsink; blowing air onto
it. the fan is very quiet (only 14dba). the CPU temp now peaks at about 86C
when there is zero idle time.
i would like to hear of other experiences and also what are reasonable
temperatures.
thanks
