[lirc kernel module for SAA7134]

Probably not, but I'll answer it anyway.

There isn't a LIRC kernel module for it, because the SAA7134 driver does
not implement an exposed GPIO interface, which is what is used on the
hardware. The SAA7134 driver itself implements an Input Layer device (eg,
/dev/input/eventX) which reports key presses like any other input layer
device (such as keyboards). Your kernel will need at least Input Core
support to have it.

There is a driver for /dev/input/eventX in the current LIRC CVS head, and
it sort of works for me. The problem I'm having is it seems like the
hardware is generating seperate keypresses even when held, and thus
everything gets doubled up and stuff, and repeating keys are treated
as seperate, etc. Not yet resolved.

But I am controlling Myth by IR, albeit not ideally.
