[mythtv-users] OT: Framebuffer

I apologize for posting this here, but it's related to Myth as the my efforts are for Mythtv.
 
Question:
I've enabled fb support in the kernel. I have the vesa driver built in and the (cle266-for Via) DirectFB driver as a module for overlays.
Do I still need to install DirectFB to make everything fully functional ?  I want to experiement with both Myth and my pvr350 using framebuffer.  Just a bit unsure of what I need.
