[mythtv-users] Myth Backend crashing

Hello,

Everything seems to be setup correctly now, but for mythbackend seems 
to crash randomly when it can't receive a signal from the bttv driver. 
I'm not sure what to do about this. Here is the relevant output:

mythfrontend displays:

2004-01-21 Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:6543 (try 1 of 5)
2004-01-21 Opening OSS audio device '/dev/dsp'.
2004-01-21 Using XV port 56
2004-01-21 Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV
2004-01-21 ReadStringList timeout (quick).
Remote encoder not responding.
2004-01-21 Changing from WatchingLiveTV to None
2004-01-21 Changing from Non to None
2004-01-21 ReadStringList timeout.
Connection to backend server lost
2004-01-21 Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:6543 (try 1 of 5)
2004-01-21 ReadStringList timeout (quick).
QSocketDevice::writeBlock: Invalid socket
2004-01-21 Error writing stringlist
Connection to backend server lost

'mythbackend -v' crashes with the following messages:

<repeated off the screen>
Partial WriteStringList 0
Partial WriteStringList 0
Partial WriteStringList 0
Waiting for data: 12 8
EOF readStringList 12

At the same time, I see messages like this in dmesg:
