[mythtv-users] video skips

Although it doesn't sound exactly like your problem, I've been fighting
occasional dropped frames on my setup for quite some time now and I
think I have finally traced it to deleting (multiple) myth files while
recording others. That appears to load up the hard drive sufficiently
to cause ivtv buffer overruns and results in dropped frames. I'm still
testing to see if other types of disk activity (eg., ftp'ing files) can
cause the same symptoms. You might try upping the number of gbuffers
you give bttv and see if that helps the problem, or even if it changes
the symptoms.

Just a thought.
