[mythtv-users] ~/.mythtv causes abrupt exit

Unfortunately, the reason I was using Alex's packages was because I was
unsuccessful in getting the CVS version to compile. I assumed the
problem lay somewhere in my own ineptitude and didn't want to bother you
folks with what would surely be a question you'd answered a million time
already.

The compile halts with the message:

/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXext
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [libmythavcodec-0.14.so.0.14.0] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/mythtv/mythtv/mythtv/libs/libavcodec'
.
.
.

Thanks for your help and sorry that I'm unable to get a backtrace to
you.

Matt

Get a backtrace of the crash.
