That wasn't the question I asked.  Go through the setup screens under 
Setup->DVD Settings->{General, Play, Rip} Settings and make sure 
everything makes sense.  It doesn't matter if you can play the DVDs 
under mplayer or xine if your MythDVD setup isn't configured properly.

- Under DVD->General, is your DVD device correct?
- Under DVD->Play, is your DVD playback command configured?  If you use 
the same command from a terminal, does it work?  Can you play a DVD 
using MythDVD?
- Under DVD->Rip, do you have a temporary directory configured?  Does 
that directory exist & does the myth user have permission to write into 
it?
- Under DVD->Rip, is your title playing command configured?  If you use 
the same command from a terminal, do you get a listing of the DVD TOC?
