Some questions:
- which version of MythTv
- which version of ivtv
- what HW (your system)
- what is the output of dmesg
- are you sure the tuner is configured correctly
- have you checked the ivtv wiki and howto's 
(http://ivtv.writeme.ch/tiki-index.php)
- have you checked the ivtv mailinglist (http:/ivtv.sourceforge.net)
