You can get a serial IR blaster or receiver from Calgary Alberta Canada, we
build them semi-professionally. It will be less expensive than going through
the States, or Europe.

Oh goodness, no I wouldn't attempt to make my own driver... I'm not that
good!
I just needs something that would work "out of the box" with minimal
interference from me.

There are a number of issues with the Scientific Atlanta 32xx boxes and IR.
I would check around to make sure you get an IR blaster that is compatible.
My Actisys IR-200L blaster doesn't work with the 32xx but does work with
2000. Alot of people report success with building their own IR blaster.

They recently started making their own MyBlaster line but I don't think
there are linux drivers. They do seem willing to provide technical details
if you want to attempt your own driver.
