[mythtv-users] Need help with segmentation fault on playback

I just got my MythTV system running this week - well, sort of running.  The backend is recording HDTV from a pcHDTV card, no problems there.  The frontend is a Pundit, 2.8GHz P4.  It is seeing the list of programs on the backend, no problem.  It can play back the channel that broadcasts at a lower resolution (704X480).  On the Watch Recording screen, I get the little preview windows for all the recorded content properly, so I know the files are ok and accessible.  However if I try to Play either the 1280X720 or 1920X1088 resolution shows, I get a segmentation fault.
 
I don't have any filters or deinterlacing turned on.  I've run mythfrontend with -v all, and the last things it prints out are:

And then it seg faults.
 
Can anyone suggest anything to try to determine the problem, or anything I might not have setup correctly?  Running mplayer on any of the .nuv files results in a "signal 11 in module: preinit_libvo".
 
I'm a bit of a newbie at Linux and therefore video under Linux, so I realize there may be something obvious I'm overlooking.  Please don't hesitate to tell me, or at least tell me where to look.  From looking at the docs, I gather if there's no simple solution, the next step is to download the source, compile and run the frontend with the debugger, right?
