Though I can't verify this (I don't own Kill Bill yet), I can at least
support it.  I have a friend who rented the US (ntsc) version of Kill
Bill, and his dvd player for some reason defaulted to not showing the
subtitles.  Made that bar scene in Japan quite confusing ;-)
