I'm glad to hear you have it working.  It sounds like you need to load
the ivtv module first, then the vttv module.  Edit /etc/modules to fix
the loading order. Mine loads:

.... loads other modules, then....

ivtv
bttv
tuner

.. continues loading other modules..

After editing this file, I had to run 'update-modules' for this change
to take effect.  I'm using KnoppMyth (a debian variant), you may have
to use some other method of updating your module loading order.
