[mythtv-users] ALSA 1.0.x lost capture ability

I've had exactly this problem. Look in the archives for my "weird alsa
problem" mails.
So far the only answer has been to dump the audigy for a SB Live as the
audigy is incapable of selecting inputs.
But if it worked before, then surely it should work now?
I don't have any experience of this, being entirely new to capturing the
audigy, but if you say it has owrked before, then I'm at a complete loss as
to why it has suddenly stopped working.

Subject: [mythtv-users] ALSA 1.0.x lost capture ability

I'm setting up a new box with 2.6.7rc love sources, and I'm using the built
in ALSA drivers 1.0.4 I think. I have a SB Audigy running EMU10K1 drivers,
and I can play audio back perfectly. The problem is that all the capture
sources are gone in ALSA versions > 0.9.8 and I have no idea how to get them
back. I record audio using LINE IN on my Audigy.

When I go into alsamixer, I can hear the audio if I unmute Line IN and raise
up the volume. However the whole 'use spacebar to select capture source'
ability is gone, and once I mute Line IN I hear nothing. I have every other
source at 100% and nothing seems to work!!! What should I do?

I have to be able to capture on line in, and not have to hear it straight
through my speakers obviously so that Myth can record properly. :-( stupid
ALSA.
