How are you recording? From the builtin tuner/cable (ie *not* from s-video)?
If so then there is no need for a sound card for playback.
The PVR takes the tv signal from the air and picks out the sound and
video. It then passes this to myth where it's written to a nuv file.
When it's played back myth passes the nuv to the PVR350 and it decodes
sound and video and send it out of it's cables.
If this results in no sound it's a PVR350 problem - check the
diagnostics at the PVR wiki (don't know the link

You will need the sound sorted to use dvds, mame etc though.
